27/11/2024,Ai rant. (TLDR;Chatgpt as grammerly)

I have been thinking about AI recently and what its good for and not good for. I feel like using chat gpt to completley generate a story or an essay for you would be unethical, its something you would need to write. However I feel for editing purposes, such as 1.spelling,2.grammer or three noticing errors of which you could change, its pretty good. Essentially just using chat gpt as grammerly. pursonelly, for me Grammerly is just not good. Like at all, it catches errors when there arent any and I have to see an endless string of red underlines which I cant fix because I have to pay for grammerly premium.Its just annoying frankly,and chat gpt i feel does better suggestions then grammerly does. So while I do believe using AI to just cheese an essay or a story is not good, using Ai to check for spelling/grammerly mistakes or overly long sentances is fine. Framkly I wish Ai was used more for that, more for editing stuff like grammerly except better.While editing yourself is important, ai can be used as a tool. i feel thats the main thing here, you shouldnt use it as a source for all of your work, just something that can help edit stuff. Then there is the usage of ai as a search engine for example googles ai and microsoft copilot. googles ai is terrible, but microsoft copilot I feel works a lot better, I was trying to find some specific events from a book I read recently and searching through bing copilot was easier then using the browsing feature. Google itself has become quite garbage, what with advertisments being reccomended first,and garbage ai generate articles. Ironically im using Ai to avoid Ai. Eh idk, i guess my ideology is a bit different, im not that staunchly against ai but I do feel like using ai for creative works is bad.I dunno maybe im completely wrong and we should burn ai to the ground, or we should accept AI as out future overlord (see ai convince other showroom robots to quit job). But idk when I write stuff like poems on this site, I do not use ai at all, it would be fake so maybe my whole spiel on Ai being used a tool thing is hypocritcal when I myself wont use AI for my poems. I guess im more talking about essays of a more academic type, actual stories and stuff.i dont know,i genuinly do not know. these thoughts have been bouncing around in my head for quite sometime now. I cant imagine using ai as your sole source of inspiration, but using it as a tool is fine, its what it should be used for.Regards,N
